I created this for the End of Year assignment in Social Studies. This is not one of the choices listed for screen-casting but I feel like Movenote fits the bill as a screen-cast. I like this because you can record only your voice or your lovely face along with the voice. The documents or whatever you are talking through with the students appears on the right as you record directions or even a mini-lecture.
I am super excited about using Movenote next year. I am thinking I could use it as a review video showing the study guide or classwork that would help the students prepare for the test, a visual demonstration on how to access class materials, how to guides for various different things we do in class, flipped instruction, assistance for long term absences, directions for group work and finally it would be great to use to create differentiated activities within the classroom.
Once I get over my fear of being on video I am sure I will use this tool quite a bit. (Here is the Youtube link for the video on MrsBerthiaume218 youtube channel https://youtu.be/E5ilmrZvx6A)
This is great! Thank you for introducing me to Movenote.
ReplyDeleteAnother nerd at Irondale gave the example of having *students* do narrated screencasts. Thus far, I've just used it as an instructional tool for the teacher but never had students do it. I think flipping this could be really beneficial for students mastering content.
After I read this I was up all night thinking of all the different options. I agree! This could be used by students to narrate concepts learned in class....I am excited to play with all the different uses!
DeleteAfter looking at your video and then going to Movenote myself I really like how it is set up and that it works so well with all of our Google stuff. I think I might like it better than some of the other options that were given to us. Thanks B! I also like the idea of handing this over to kids as a way to do "presentations" in class but not always needing the extra time in class to get through all of them. The kids could do their own screencast on a topic. I feel that you can get a much better understanding of what students have mastered or still need work on when they can just talk to you rather than writing it down. Nice Job!!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I really like your end-of-the-year activity! I bet you get such great information from the kids! Movenote was a great idea for screen casting and I agree that this tool is pretty versatile! Also, I totally hear you about getting over your fear of being on video! :)
ReplyDeleteLove that assignment! I agree with Stacey - I bet you get very good information from the kids doing this in the format you are asking for. I also like the idea that lots of your commenters were talking about in having students create videos like this. It could save some class time with presentations. Thanks for sharing that! I also now will look more into movenote since seeing this.
ReplyDeleteI really like this (like everyone else). I just want to figure out why there seems to be so much wasted space in the open area. I would like the presentation to be a little larger so I could use it for examining maps in geography.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, April. I love this assignment and the valuable information you must receive to shape and inform your craft. I plan to give Movenote a try for my 4th activity. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove the end of year activity!
